July Fourth Festival Musician Lineup Announced!



                                  
On Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st, the annual July Fourth "Mountain Keepers" Music Festival will be held at Kayford Mountain's Stanley Heirs Park. The two day event will feature local and regional musicians playing a variety of bluegrass, gospel, country and old time music, as well as pot-luck meals. This is a free concert that will celebrate Appalachian life and attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish.

The purpose of the concert, according to local citizen activist Larry Gibson, is to “bring family and friends together for a weekend of celebrating West Virginia’s heritage and freedom."   June 30th and Sunday, July 1st will see people from all walks of life, bound by their common love of our mountains and people.  Festival organizers will have trained security present to ensure this event is as safe as possible and all are invited to peacefully enjoy this 

Festival.  This festival will also feature a performance by former US Congressman Ken Hechler who will sing, "Almost Level [Heaven], West Virginia."

·         1:00 PM - Andy Park - Americana / Country Musician
·         2:00 PM - John Lilly - Country / Folk Singer
·         3:00 PM - Kipp McGhee - Rock & Roll Musician
·         4:00 PM - The Allegheny Mule Team - Old Time Ballad Singers
·         5:00 PM - Penny Anderson - Old Time Ballad Singer
·         6:00 PM - Kathleen Coffee - Folk Singer / Songwriter
·         7:00 PM - Paige Dalporto - Country / Rock & Roll Musician
·         8:00 PM - Willie Dodson - Old Time Musician

The Festival Schedule for Sunday, July 1st is:

·         12:00 PM - Sermon from Reverend Clayton Stevens
·         12:30 PM - Gospel Singing by Reverend Clayton Stevens and Sally Stevens
·         1:00 PM - Adam Greico - Folk Singer
·         1:30 PM - Open Mic


Stanley Heirs Park is located near Dawes, WV, which is about one hour southeast of Charleston off of Interstate 64 and directions can be found at http://bit.ly/kayfordmtndirections. Anyone attending is encouraged to bring a covered dish for potluck meals. Camping is available for free, but attendees are encouraged to donate to a fund that will be used to fund this festival and Park Sustainability Projects.
