We Want to Celebrate Larry in a Big Way

Celebrating Larry Gibson:
The Life and Legacy of the Keeper of the Mountains

Larry's life was big and Larry's legacy is huge.  We have seen stories of Larry's impact on peoples' lives come in from across this country since his passing on September 9th.  We are hoping that a fitting crowd comes out to the Celebration of Larry's Gibson's Life and Legacy event in Charleston, WV on October 14th.  We want the size of the crowd to fit Larry's impact on our lives, our movement, and this world.  We want as many people as possible there to celebrate Larry and hear that we are moving his vision of a just and sustainable Appalachia forward.
That is why we're asking you, if you use facebook, to invite your friends to the event's facebook page.
If you don't use facebook, then please forward this message or call your friends to get them there.  The location we have reserved is BIG, so we can fit a crowd.
Here are some important details of the event that we'll send out again next week:

---> Time: The doors for the event will open at 1:15 PM for food, beverages, and fellowship in the lobby while people will be seated at 1:45 with music starting at 1:55 and the formal Program will start at 2:00 PM.  We are expecting the event to run until 6:00 PM with an intermission at approximately 4:00 PM.
---> Location: The event is being held at the  Charleston Municipal Auditorium, which is on  the corner of Virginia and Truslow Streets in Downtown Charleston, WV.
---> Parking: Parking for the event is at the  Charleston Mall's Parking Garage which is just one block from the front doors to the Charleston Municipal Auditorium.  The parking fee for the garage is $1.75.
---> Food and Drinks: We will have full appetizers and beverages available, so you're encouraged to arrive when the doors open at 1:15 PM to have time to snack and talk with friends and family before the event starts.  There is a great list of Charleston Restaurants  at this link and we encourage you to plan dinner in the Downtown, East End, West Side, Kanawha City, or South Charleston neighborhoods for a meal within easy driving distance of the event.
---> Lodging: We encorage you to plan to stay the night unless you live within driving distance.  A list of Charleston and Charleston area hotels can be found  at this link.
---> Volunteering: We'll need help the day of the event in the form of ushers, set up people, break down people and other roles to run the event.  If you're interested in volunteering, please email me at Danny@MountainKeeper.org.

---> Attire: You're encouraged to be comfortable and if you have a yellow / green "We Are The Keepers of the Mountains..." shirt, you're encouraged to wear it.  We will have these shirts at the event as well.
The program for “Celebrating Larry Gibson: The Life and Legacy of the Keeper of the Mountains will feature family, friends, prominent activists, West Virginia residents, musicians and preachers.  This event will be preceded by  the annual Changing of the Leaves Music Festival that starts at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 13th on Kayford Mountain and you are encouraged to also come to Kayford Mountain to enjoy great music, fellowship, and camp out with us.

For more information on this event and donating or volunteering to help make it happen contact Danny Chiotos  with the Keeper of the Mountains Foundation at Danny@Mountainkeeper.org or  (304) 205-0920.
